Learning to Eat

At 5 and 1/2 months, we thought it was time for little Bretty to try "real" food. Well let's just say he's not gobbling it up. Here are a couple cute pics of his attempt to eat rice cereal. Mostly he just spits it out and I don't blame him, that rice cereal stuff could use a little sugar.

Our New Friends From Tanzania

Elder Burton and Elder Murphy asked Jeff and I to help them teach an investigator family from Tanzania. One of the boys, Sokoza, asked Jeff to baptize him. The baptism was yesterday and it was wonderful. Afterwords we were invited to a celebration at the family's place.

Little did we know the incredible experience we were in for. Hermann cranked up the African music, telling us "Jesus like this music". Then we all started dancing and laughing and having a great time. As an appetizer we had soda, corn chips, fudge patties and butterfingers!!! YUM. I like dessert first! They are the happiest, kindest, most humble of people.

Hightlights of our week with Hails!

My sister Hails was able to come to Texas and stay an entire week with us...it was so much fun. We were constantly going and going. Here are the top 5 highlights of our week!

1. The bats at Congress Bridge - It is so crazy...every night at sundown 1.5 million Mexican bats take flight for their night-time feast. I'm no bat fan, but this is really incredible and quite breathtaking site. Warning: the bat poopy is very stinky!

2. Mount Bonnell - This is the highest point in Austin city limits. The best part is there are only 102 stairs to get to the top! This is about as high as mountains get here in Texas!
Our little king of Texas

Driving home from Mount Bonnell I spotted this beauty sitting on this rock wall. I was able to get quite close before it got spooked and hopped down.

3. Lake Travis - We were able to spend Saturday cooking burgers on a grill at the park in Lake Travis. Then we went for a dip in the water which stays at a perfect 80 degree temp.
Nothing cuter than a baby's naked, cottage cheese bum!

Can you tell we are sisters?

4. San Antonio Temple - Hails was kind enough to watch little Bretty and our friend's daughter while we went to the temple! It is a beautiful temple with lots of stained glass!

5. The Alamo and Riverwalk in San Antonio - Hailee's last day in Texas we spent sightseeing. The Alamo is quite a site to see. Pee-Wee Herman's bike is supposedly in the basment, but I don't think there is a basement to the Alamo.
This is me and Bretty on the Riverwalk. This river winds in downtown San Antonio with beautiful folage, bridges, and waterfalls.
